Today's Useless Fact

During a birthday celebration in Hungary, it is customary to pull on the earlobes of the birthday person after the gifts are opened. Then they say a rhyme which translates to something like 'God bless you, live so long so your ears reach your ankles'.

You can now safely go about your business, knowing that you learned something completely useless (but rather interesting, don't you think?).

Danae

On Monday Danae begins a long orthodontic adventure. Ryan convinced her to come to the studio and do a photo shoot and show off the 'before' smile. Here's a slideshow of some of the photos. I know all parents say it, but where does the time go? Just yesterday we were taking baby pictures and now all of a sudden she looks like a young lady.

Feelin' lucky??

Blog Prompt: Are you superstitious?
Not in the least. I have no trouble walking under ladders (which is probably only unlucky for people much taller than I), black cats don't make me shudder and I've never thrown salt over my shoulder. I do knock on wood occasionally, but I think it's just a habit ;)

On a different note, look at the adorable little Valentine hearts I made my for my kids. If you want the instructions, click here. They are so easy, even I could do it!

Blog Quiz

Your Word is "Hope"

You see life as an opportunity for learning, growth, and bringing out the best in others.
No matter how bad things get, you always have at least a glimmer of optimism.
You are accepting and forgiving. You encourage those who have wronged you to turn over a new leaf.
And while there is a lot of ugliness in the world, you believe that almost no one is beyond redemption.

Dance Fever!

What skill do you wish you had?

I've always wanted to be able to dance. I can do a pretty fair "white girl" 80's dance, but that's it. I can't imagine how it would feel to twirl and whirl like Ann Miller (remember her?) or gyrate like a hip-hop dancer or tap dance like Shirley Temple or any of it. I can barely clap on the right beat, let alone have the rhythm to dance :)

Looks like I've become...

a basketball mom!

Jackson had his first Upward Basketball game this morning and we all had fun. Danae looked at me after the first period and said, "I didn't think this would be so exciting!" If you're not familiar with Upward its a fantastic Christian-based sports program. They learn basketball, pray together, have a devotional, learn to work as a team and be a good sport--whether they win or lose. I'm very impressed with the whole program. Anyway, Ryan put together a great slideshow of photos from the Hawks/Pistons game. Jackson is #7 in the silver jersey. We did win the game, but oftentimes sports is about much more than that. Enjoy!
