Top Ten list

Blog Prompt: You've been hired as a writer for "Late Show with David Letterman." Your first assignment is to come up with a witty, nonpolitical Top Ten list for him to read on air.

Top Ten Reasons Why Books are Better than TV:
10. Some of the greatest books have been around for hundreds of years; even the best TV shows haven't nearly stood the test of time.
9. In a loud, crazy, chaotic world, books are blessedly quiet.
8. My book doesn't require a converter box or care whether the signal is digital or analog.
7. I never have to steal a book away from my husband (unlike the remote).
6. I don't have to wait until someone tells me how it ends if I don't like it. I can just read the last page.
5. No need for batteries, a power supply or an outlet.
4. I'm sure I will never hear a pilot in an airplane say, "Please turn off all your books because they're interfering with the navigational instruments."
3. Portability (And don't tell me about 2-inch screens on your iTouch. I don't buy it.)
2. I never have to adjust the volume on my book.
1. No commercials.
