I'm all for progress, but...

Blog Prompt: Talking to my sister the other day, she told me that her 1st grade son was now suppose to read his books on-line instead of bringing them home. How do you feel about that?

I'm such a purist when it comes to books, I'm just not sure I like that trend. For me, the experience of a book comes with the whole range of senses. I love old books that have a bit of a musty scent; I love the texture of different papers on which books are printed; I haven't eaten a book since I was child, so maybe it's not the "whole" range of senses LOL, but it encompasses more than the words on the page. I love holding a book like Shakespeare in my hand, because it feels weightier than the latest bestseller, just more important somehow.

Haven't posted in awhile, since I've been spending a bit more time scrapping. I'm on one more CT: Totally Twisted Scraps whose kits can be found at Pretty Scrappy and Scrapable. My first layout for her won me Lei-out of the Day at Scrapable!

Same here. It's tactile. I don't know if I would ever get use to reading a book on the computer. For my sister though, I think it is more of a privilege she gives the kids to be on the computer. And this takes that away.

I read a book on the computer to save money, but I would much rather curl up with a blanket, a book and a Mt. Dew in a chair then with my laptop balancing on my lap! These layouts are amazing!

I have tried to read books on my computer but I can't seem to get into it. That is why I don't think a Kindle would work for me. I like holding a book with real paper. I think I am a tactile and visual learner so I need to touch the pages.
