MIA

I know I've been MIA for awhile, so I thought I'd update just to let everyone know what's going on.

The first two weeks of September I was knee-deep in sorting, shopping and distributing the last of the children's school clothes for Love INC's Clothe-A-Kid program. On Saturday, September 13th I had to leave my booth at the distribution center to go and interview for a part-time position at our church. The interview lasted about 20 minutes and felt really good. That afternoon my pastor called and offered me the job. I wanted to accept on the spot, but on Friday, I'd been called with a follow up from an application I had sent out somewhere else. I needed to find out on Monday morning what was going on with that job--it was full-time, great pay--and felt I needed more information before making a decision.

So Monday morning, I made some phone calls and at 9:30 or so, I accepted the position at the church. By Tuesday morning I was in the weekly staff meeting (granted, I had very little to say) and have been at work trying to get up to speed ever since. I am now the Director of Adult Ministries for our church. Which I joked makes me sound like Julie from 'The Love Boat'. My first activity gets to be a trip with the mature folks (aged 63 and up) to go out to our church camp and enjoy the autumn colors. I'm looking forward to it, but this job is a little scary and exciting and fun and stressful and emotional and I'm loving every minute of it!

Wow, it's been too long!

I don't know if it's the change in routine with the kids being in school, the weather or what, but I'm not motivated to blog at all (no offense, Tink)! So I thought I'd just update with a few of the layouts that I've done recently. Enjoy! (Click layout for credits)

Where do I belong?

How many e-groups do you belong to that you participate in?

I feel like I'm on the computer way too much for my own good and I belong to a lot of different sites, but here is where you'll find me most of the time:
  • Sweet Shoppe Designs - my favorite digi-scrapping site. They have the best challenges and I love all their designers (especially Kristin Cronin-Barrow--who is not just a great designer, but a lot of fun to get to know!)

  • PaperBack Swap - I've had to spend less time at this site lately because I've got a stack of books piled high just waiting to be read. This site has some great people and I love the idea of swapping books with people all over the country!

  • FaithWriters - the absolute best, most encouraging site for Christian writers that I've found. The people are wonderful and it has really given me the boost I needed to get serious about my writing. Now time for my shameless plug: Each week FaithWriters has a writing challenge where they give you a topic and you need to write a story in fewer than 750 words that expands on that topic. My piece won 2nd place in the Advanced category and is the highest I've ever placed in a challenge! Click on Satin Dresses and the Waiting Game if you'd like to read it!
