Leaps of Faith

Have you 'leaped' into something without looking?
No. That's the short answer, I guess. Do you remember the old sitcom called 'Wings'? The Tim Daly character has a line in it one-time where he says something like "Yeah, risk is okay, sometimes, in a carefully-controlled environment." That's one of my life mottos, I think :)

The truth is that I have a hard time leaping into something most times even when I have looked. I guess I'm just not a 'leaper'!

Colors

What's your favorite color to wear?

I don't know why, but I love to wear black. I guess I feel like I never have to worry about everything matching, and I don't have to buy too many pairs of shoes (although Ryan might disagree with that!). I have more black skirts and black pants in my closet than I can count and I love black shirts and sweaters with jeans. Of course, the down-side of this is that I'm a blonde and one who sheds. Need I say more? LOL

The most important meal of the day...

This month is National Hot Breakfast month. What's your favorite?
I LOVE breakfast! If I don't eat breakfast, I just know something's wrong with me. I'm really more of a cereal and toast or English muffin kind of a person, but given the opportunity to have a hot breakfast I will almost always choose biscuits and gravy. How can you not like a bunch of flour and fat baked in a biscuit overflowing with flour and fat made into gravy? Preferably with a huge side of sausage and a bottomless cup of good coffee. Sounds like I need to make a trip to Sioux Falls to eat at the Cracker Barrel :)

A "Me" by any Other Name....?

Today is 'Get a Different Name Day'. What name would you pick?
Having a name that is a bit 'different' already means that I've gone through the phase where I hated my name ('Mom, why can't I find a key chain with MY name on it?' 'Why does everybody always spell my name wrong?') and onto a place where I love having a name that isn't the same as everyone else's.

I really like girls' names that start with vowels, because I just think they're so beautiful. On my list of girls' names when we had children were: Aislinn and Ashlinn. So maybe I'd change my name to one of those, or a name like 'Gabrielle' which I also like for no particular reason. Or my favorite Biblical name, which is 'Miriam'.

But I think I like what I've got. Thanks, Mom! (oh, and Dad :) )

Book Recommendation

I just finished The Secret Life of Becky Miller by Sharon Hinck. I readily admit that when it comes to Christian fiction I'm a bit of a snob. Rarely do I find "Christian" books that I just can't put down because I feel like the writing is often inferior to the authors' "secular" counterparts. Not so with this one! This is the highly-enjoyable story of a stay-at-home mom who fantasizes about doing BIG THINGS FOR GOD not realizing that God is using her right where she is.
