Thankful for...nature

What things in nature are you most thankful for?
My two favorite natural wonders are sunrises and waterfalls. I think that sunrises are God's way of inviting us to live in the moment. You will never see the same sunrise (or sunset) twice, so sit back and just enjoy the show. And no matter how hard we try, we can never duplicate through photography or painting, the immensity and beauty of a sunrise.
Waterfalls to me are nature's power in all of its beauty. A single drop of water is so innocuous, but when you put many of them together and energize them, they are powerful enough to change a landscape. Wow. One of our favorite waterfalls is one that we sort of 'happened' upon when we took a walk in the woods in Ontario, Oregon. It's called Pearsoney Falls. I have scrapped this same photo (by my dh) more than once and we have two different prints of it hanging in our home. It's unbelievable.

Thankful for...my senses

Which of your five senses are you most thankful for?
I really think that it would have to be sight, although how is a person supposed to pick? I love watching my children play, seeing the beauty of a sunrise or sunset, scrapping, crocheting, seeing the smile on a loved one's face...I would surely miss those things.
But I was just thinking back to our church service yesterday and thinking how much I would miss singing and listening to music if I couldn't hear. Praise music makes me happy and I'm hoping that if I ever lost my hearing that my heart would somehow compensate.
Of course, if I couldn't touch anything, or taste anything, life would be pretty sad as well. So I guess my answer is...I can't pick!

Thankful for...comfy things

What things that comfort you are you thankful for?
I love to be 'comfy' and I have most definitely passed that on to my children. If I would let them, they'd never wear anything other than sweatpants or pajamas! Here's my list of 'comfy things':
  • Fuzzy slippers
  • My down pillows and blankets
  • Foods from childhood like peanut butter, mac&cheese, casseroles, hot bread
  • Coffee
  • Any book!

** On a different note** I found this great site. The site is called Common Ties and it publishes people's personal stories. But I specifically thought of all my blogging friends when I saw their newest addition: Twenty Questions. You submit your answer to one (or more) of their twenty questions and they may publish it. Read through the site. Truth is almost always stranger than fiction.

Thankful for...again

What are you able to do that you are thankful for?
How can I compile a short list of all the things I am blessed to have the ability to do? How's this:
see, taste, touch, hear, talk, sing, laugh, walk, run, skip, listen, cry, hug, communicate, love

Why are you thankful that it's autumn?
I love this season for so many reasons, but here are just a few: changing weather, crisp mornings, sweaters, colors, football, pheasant hunting, apple cider, casseroles, down comforters, curling up on the couch and reading books

Have a beautiful day!

Thankful for...

What kitchen items are you thankful for? Name at least 3.
Imagine living back in the days when there was no refrigeration. I have no idea how they did it. I am so thankful that we live in a day where I can keep food cold and use it when I need it.
Secondly, I'm so thankful for my coffee pot (you knew I would say that, didn't you?) I have my everyday 10-cup coffee pot and I also have a little French press pot that makes such delicious coffee that I use it as a treat to myself on the weekends.
Lastly, I'm love my KitchenAid stand mixer. It's not a big one, but it's great to be able to mix up a batch of cookies without getting my arms tired. What a wimp I am :)
